Press release by the Municipality of The Hague:
The Municipality of The Hague and Intellecap boosting the international start-up scene in The Hague, India, and Kenya
The Hague, 25 July 2017 – As the international city of peace and justice, The Hague is the perfect location for startups and businesses that focus on social and technological innovations with an international impact. In order to offer these impact startups a launchpad, the City of The Hague will collaborate with India-based international impact organization Intellecap.
Intellecap is a pioneer in providing innovative business solutions that help build and scale profitable and sustainable enterprises dedicated to social and environmental change. It provides a broad range of consulting, research and investment banking services to clients around the world. It is a major international player when it comes to scaling enterprises and helping startups to grow their business.
Sankalp Forum, an Intellecap initiative, was set up to maintain the network and organize international summits. It has connected over 400 enterprises to investors and funders. Additionally, it has built an engaged community of over 23,000 people around the world.
Collaboration
The collaboration will initially be aimed at creating a partnership – more specifically, an “internationalization corridor” program – between the Netherlands, India, and Kenya. By way of this program, and in partnership with Intellecap, we explicitly invite startups to apply for the opportunity to scout new markets, build strategic partnerships, and source new clients internationally.
Impact Startup Fest
The City of The Hague will host the second edition of Impact Startup Fest on 25 and 26 September this year, as part of the nationwide Startup Fest Europe. This impact vertical will focus entirely on impact startups and scale-ups that are working on innovations to tackle social and global challenges.
In partnership with Sankalp Forum, the international track “Gateway to Emerging Markets” is taking shape. Businesses from India and Kenya will also be present.
Empowering economies
“We are excited to collaborate with ImpactCity The Hague. It is their express purpose to empower emerging economies, like India and Kenya, to contribute to finding innovative solutions for people and planet,” says Nisha Dutt, CEO at Intellecap.
“Increasing the innovative strength of our economy and creating new employment opportunities are important reasons for connecting startups, scale-ups and creative talent to the City of The Hague,” The Hague’s Deputy Mayor Karsten Klein summarizes the rationale behind the collaboration with Intellecap.
He adds, “That means strongly positioning The Hague as the impact city in international startup clusters, entering into international coalitions, getting foreign companies to commit to the city, and focusing on attracting talented individuals from other countries.”
